KAJUKENBO TRAINING SOCIETY

Kajukenbo Training Society Mission Statement

The essence of the martial arts is in the training, and the knowledge and skill that comes from that training.

The purpose of the K.T.S. is to foster Kajukenbo training, while still preserving a historical base of the original techniques of the system. Member schools will maintain a minimum base curriculum of techniques from the “Original Method” of Kajukenbo, and then be free to be creative, progressive, and flexible with the remainder of their teaching curriculum.

The K.T.S. is not in any way meant as a means to cross rank instructors from other systems, who simply learn the “minimum base curriculum”. The Kajukenbo Training Society is for legitimate Kajukenbo black belts who want to ensure the preservation of the original techniques developed by the Black Belt Society and taught by Sijo Adriano D. Emperado.

Black belts from the 4 branches of Kajukenbo (Original Method-Kenpo, Chuan Fa, Tum Pai, Wun Hop Kuen Do), or any of the methods under these branches are welcome to become members of the K.T.S. Their color belt students will be considered associate members.

Although we hope that members will learn and teach the Original Method” in it’s entirety, we simply require that member instructors add to their training curriculum the following techniques and forms from the “Original Method”:

Palama Sets: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Grab Arts: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Punch Counters: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Knife Counters: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Club Counters: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Two Man Counters: 1, 2
Three Man Counter: 1
Alphabets: A, B, C

Sijo Emperado has left a historical record of his “Original Method” in video form thru the “World Kajukenbo Organization” training DVD’s. These DVD’s are the guide from which the “core curriculum” of the K.T.S. is derived.

Members of the K.T.S. are encourged to maintain their memberships in other organizations that they belong to, such as the K.S.D.I., K.A.A., K.O.A., A.K.A., K.S.D.S., etc.

The K.T.S. is a training organization, and will not issue ranks. Instead it will attempt to put members together with senior instructors who will instruct them and monitor their training and progress. Promotions in rank will be earned and awarded based on these student-teacher relationships. The K.T.S. encourages instructors to maintain high standards, and make promotions that are based on the students knowledge, experience, and contributions to our art.

In this day of electronic communication, there is little need for the use of printed materials and postage costs. So at this time, there are no membership fees or dues. For more information contact: John Bishop: emailbishop@yahoo.com.
